Juried by nationally known artist, designer, independent curator and educator Fo Wilson, AAP’s 101st Annual Exhibition features 45 works, selected from more than 300 submissions, that reflect the intersection of art, craft media and design, which is the intention of this year’s collaboration between AAP and SCC. The exhibit includes many media and presents a strong overview of the variety of media and artistic talent within AAP’s membership. It remains on view at SCC through January 14, 2012.
“As creative practices evolve in the 21st century, we are seeing the blurring of boundaries and shifts in the position of art, craft and design within previously accepted hierarchies. This show, using the diverse practices and work of its membership, acknowledges some of those shifts and I have attempted to craft a coherent and robust exhibition that fits comfortably into this new milieu at the same time it honors the diversity of its membership and the history of the organization,” Ms. Wilson said of the 101st Annual.
A free, hands-on activity for all ages, developed by Juror Fo Wilson, will be available in SCC’s Drop-In Studio during the run of the show; and guided tours are available for student and adult groups of six or more visitors. A unique, color catalogue designed by Martha Wasik will be available at SCC and on-line.
