About the Studio
In keeping with the Society for Contemporary Craft’s mission “to engage the public in the creative experience through contemporary craft,” SCC offers an extensive variety of Studio workshops for both makers and collectors. Studio offerings focus on metals, wood, fiber, mixed media and book/paper arts with classes at every skill level from introductory to mastery. SCC is honored to have talented regional artists, as well as outstanding visiting artists teaching in the Studio. Our educational programming is planned for many different audiences including general visitors and their children, SCC members, schools (both for students and teachers), at-risk youth, and residents of retirement facilities. SCC’s educational objectives are to involve the community in the appreciation and expression of art through craft media, to strengthen appreciation of the creative process as an important component in everyone’s life, and to assist visitors in integrating exhibition information outside the gallery. For more information, please contact Education Director Sherrard Bostwick at thestudio@contemporarycraft.org or 412.261.7003, x 25.
Drop-in Studio
The Drop In Studio is a free hands-on activity area for adults and children located in the Studio level of the Society for Contemporary Craft. The space, which is open during all public hours, allows visitors to participate in a hands-on art activity that has been developed by artists to tie-in to our gallery exhibitions. We invite you to become a maker in the Drop-in Studio next time you visit SCC.
Membership = great opportunity.
