“It has always been my goal as an artist to make work that speaks to the viewer on a deeper level. As a functional potter it is always my greatest compliment to hear that someone uses my pots in their daily life; I believe that this tactile experience creates a dialogue between the user and the maker that continues and matures over a lifetime of use. As my work evolves to be less functional in the traditional sense, it is still my interest to provoke a dialogue with the viewer. In my current body of work, I am exploring carving appropriated images from our culture onto the surface of my pots that I feel address or allude to specific ideals that interest me. It is my hope that these images will provoke thought in the viewer. “
