I make one of a kind jewelry pieces as well as limited edition. While experimenting with ways to expand color and volume in my metal work, I taught myself how to make felt. The tactile contrast between the cool metal and warm felt intrigues me. The wool roving (what felt is made from) can be blended in a very painterly fashion, creating a full spectrum of color. Also, the felt is remarkably durable, long used by nomadic Mongolian tribes to sheath their tents, called yurts, for insulation and protection from the rain and snow.

Jewelry may represent a bond of love in one culture, or signify a spiritual passage in another. My work draws on a fascination for the meaning and power of symbols, words and objects.
