My desire as an artist is to create pots that serve not only as a vehicle for the fine taste of food but also to transcend visual pleasure and to stimulate appetite. The work I make is a pedestal for food. My intention is to highlight the act of eating as a vital component of everyday life, enriching our appreciation of the food and the ambiance of the space. I create highly refined work that consists of simple lines and muted colors-a minimal aesthetic that harmonizes with the domestic surrounding. My many influences include modern interior design and architecture as modes of framing the contents of a space. Proportions of volume in forms such as serving dishes, plates, cups and bowls are carefully considered when I design my work. Through these investigations, I align the act of eating and am aware of the serving dishes as an extension of a sensory and communal experience.
