Making objects in clay is repetitive and meditative. The forms I build mimic aspects of the body, not always as literal representations but as abstractions of body parts, mainly parts that are imperfect and awkward. Lacey patterns, pinched porcelain flowers, ruffles and ribbons, trail, float and cascade over my forms.  This decorative dress-up contributes to the personification of my sculptures, alluding to individual expression and cultural expectations of gender, class and taste.
