“Duke” is currently a Professor of Art at California University of Pennsylvania and has been making pots for about 30 years. He began his studies in ceramics at Indiana University of PA with Frank Ross prior to earning an MFA at Alfred University in New York. Miecznikowski’s work has been shown nationwide. He is best known for his White House Dinnerware Set commissioned by Rosalyn Carter.
“My primary medium is stoneware with emphasis on vessel forms. I do enjoy working in porcelain as well and in recent years I have been fascinated with Raku and primitive firing methods utilizing indigenous clays and terra sig.”
