Suzan Rezac

Opus Tessellatum, (necklace), 2001

Silver, shakudo, shibuichi, brass, bronze

1/8” x 17” x 1 3/8”

Suzan Rezac is known for her mastery of inlay, using gold, silver, copper and especially the Japanese alloys shibuichi and shakudo. She draws her inspiration from nature and natural forms, archaeology and ancient cultures. Many of her pieces are constructed with “shards” based on decoration and the history of decorative arts. A Viennese Art Nouveau vase, a 18th – century French platter, or the four seasons are all sources of influence for Rezac’s continual exploration, culminating with her elegant, extraordinary jewelry.
