Society for Contemporary Craft Permanent and
Educational Loan Collections

The Society for Contemporary Craft was established to encourage the appreciation of crafts through the maintenance of its collections, the presentation of exhibitions and the sponsoring of educational programs. The institution maintains two collections.

The first of these collections is the permanent collection. Comprised of objects in clay, glass, fiber, metal and wood, the permanent collection traces the historical development of crafts from 1945 to the present and focuses on stylistic trends that emerged after World War II.

The second collection, the primary focus of which is education, is a study collection of related craft objects which contributes to the understanding and appreciation of the permanent collection. Education of the public, through hands-on experiences and outreach programs is the primary purpose behind SCC's maintenance of this collection.
